Advisory

Potential PG&E Power Shut-Off/Fire Weather Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch which goes into effect 5 AM PDT Wed to 5 pm PDT Thu for the locations on the attached map that are in beige. Strongest winds are expected overnight Wed-early Thu in the hills. This has the potential to be the strongest offshore wind event of the year.

We are closely monitoring updates from PG&E regarding a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff because of the Fire Weather Watch. It is not certain yet if any Sunnyvale residents will be impacted by this, however it is a possibility. If so, PG&E will contact customers who will be impacted directly. So please make sure your contact information in your PG&E billing is up to date. For more information and a map of impacted areas, visit https://www.pge.com/en_US/safety/emergency-preparedness/natural-disaster/wildfires/psps-event-maps.page.

While a wide-spread power shut off is unlikely in Sunnyvale at this time, it is important for residents to be prepared to be without power in the instance the shut off does impact our area. If you rely on electric or battery dependent medical technologies such as assistive technology, breathing machines, a power wheelchair/scooter or home oxygen or dialysis, it is critical that you have a plan in place for an extended power outage. Visit www.pge.com/pspsupdates to learn more.

Also it is important to prepare emergency supplies such as food, water, flashlights, a radio, fresh batteries, first aid supplies and a back up charger for your phone. Learn to manually open your garage door. Learn about how to prepare and more about preparing for a Public Safety Power Shutoff here
https://www.pge.com/en_US/safety/emergency-preparedness/natural-disaster/wildfires/psps-event-maps.page.

Again, this may or may not impact our area. However, we urge all residents to take preparedness efforts.

Remember we are here for you when you need us, 911 for life threatening emergencies, 408-730-7180 for non-emergencies, and 408-730-7100 for general inquiries. If your power does go off, please do not call 911. Only call 911 for life threatening emergencies or crimes in progress.

At this time this is the only information we have. We will continue to monitor PG&E updates.
