from TOWN OF WINDSOR: PG&E Power Shutoff to impact Windsor starting at midnight tonight. Red Flag Warning issued.
PG&E will begin shutting off power to a significant portion of the Town of Windsor at around midnight tonight unless conditions change. PG&E anticipates that restoration of power may begin on Thursday, October 10th at noon. After restoration begins, it could take up to 5 days to completely restore power to all impacted customers across Northern California. Based on forecasted winds, PG&E is expecting significant damage to their system which can delay restoration times. We are aware that there have been difficulties with their website due to the high volume of use.
A Red Flag Warning will be in effect for the Town of Windsor and includes a majority of Sonoma County from Wednesday (10/9) at 5 a.m. to Thursday at 5 p.m. for very strong and dry winds with low humidity creating critical fire danger.
A Wind Advisory will be in effect for the upper elevations of Sonoma County (over 1000 ft) from Wednesday (10/9) a 6 a.m. to Thursday (10/10) at 3 p.m. Outages are likely to occur unrelated to the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).
The Sonoma County Fire District has extra staffing in place that includes additional staffed fire engines and chief officers at all of our fire stations in Windsor. Firefighters will be patrolling the communities that we serve. More than 20 extra fire engines will be staffed across Sonoma County.
