It is important for residents to be prepared to be without power in the instance the shutoff does impact your home. PG&E will contact customers who will be impacted directly, the first contact will be 48 hours before shutoff and the second will be 12 hours before shut-off. So please make sure your contact information in your PG&E billing is up to date.
If you rely on electric or battery dependent medical technologies such as assistive technology, breathing machines, a power wheelchair/scooter or home oxygen or dialysis, it is critical that you have a plan in place for an extended power outage. We urge residents to begin basic preparedness efforts now for the possibility of a power shutoff.
These efforts should include:
Having a personal safety plan in place for every member of your household (including pets).
Planning for any medical needs like medications that need to be refrigerated or devices that require power.
Building or restocking your emergency supply kit, including food, water, flashlights, a radio, fresh batteries, first aid supplies and cash.
Identifying backup charging methods for phones.
Learning how to manually open your garage door.
If you own a backup generator, ensure it is ready to safely operate.

PG&E will open Community Resource Centers in several locations starting Wed 10/9 at 8 am. They will remain open during daylight hours only. Restrooms, bottled water, electronic-device charging, a/c seating for up to 100 will be available. Full list: bit.ly/2OGbk5B. Also see attached.
If our area becomes impacted by the PG&E power shutoff, traffic lights will most likely be out of service in the impacted areas. As a reminder, if a traffic signal light is not working proceed cautiously as if the intersection is controlled by “STOP” signs in all directions.
The National Weather Service has also advised of high winds. During high winds, there is a possibility of downed trees and downed power lines. Never approach a downed power line and stay at least 30 feet away.
