Stay Safe During Public Safety Power Shutoff
On the evening of Wednesday, October 10, 2019 PG&E conducted a Public Safety Power Shutoff, which has caused an estimated 33,443 customers in Santa Clara County to be without electrical power.
The Town is aware that the power is out to some Los Altos Hills residents. Town Hall has power and is open for business. If you are leaving the Town, please be aware that traffic lights and other power related issues may impact your travels.
Residents are encouraged to follow a few basic safety procedures, which will help keep everyone safe until the power is restored:
- Please do not call 9-1-1 to check the PSPS status. 9-1-1 phone lines must be available to receive emergency phone calls. Please call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000. You may also follow PG&E on Twitter @PGE4Me and Facebook to receive current, up-to-date information.
- Do not “backfeed” a portable generator into your home electrical wiring. You can cause an explosion. Seek a qualified professional to assist you in using a generator to power your household.
- Make sure generators are never used inside a home or in enclosed spaces.
- Approach intersections with non-functioning traffic signals with caution. Treat them as if they are a 4-way stop.
