Power Shutoff Update
Petaluma, California - Petaluma’s power outage continues with no update on timing for power restoration. Reports from the field and from social media indicate PG&E crews are currently out visually inspecting the power lines. While we hope the power is restored quickly, we are advising community members to plan for the power outage to continue tonight and into tomorrow.
As the power shutoff continues, we remind you to inspect refrigerated food carefully as the power outage has now surpassed twenty-four (24) hours. We also remind you to turn off electronics so that they are protected from possible power surges when power is restored.
Petaluma intersections continue to be out, so please proceed with caution when approaching these intersections and remember to treat them as a four-way stop
The red flag warning remains in effect through 5pm tonight, therefore, fire agencies will maintain additional staffing levels until the red flag warning expires.
To assist PG&E with power line inspections and power recovery, the City of Petaluma Municipal Airport continues to host helicopter operations focused on power line inspections. Neighborhoods surrounding the airport may experience an increase in helicopter traffic for this important purpose.
For the areas in Petaluma that have lost power and might be operating a generator, please ensure that generators are properly installed and operated outdoors. Operating a gas generator inside could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning and/or a fire.
