Rumor of a Body Found:
Today the Norton Shores Police learned that a person falsely posted on social media that a body was found in the area of Airline rd. and Getty Street. The police department will be speaking with this person to investigate this false claim.
Recently, the Michigan State Police received a call from a person who claimed that they saw a suspicious person in the area of Getty and Airline after the arrest of Jeffrey Willis. The Michigan State Police and the Norton Shores Police evaluate each tip and hundreds have been looked at. This tip is one of the many that have been investigated.
Today the Michigan State Police dive team is checking an area where the reported person was seen. No evidence of a body has been found, but weather conditions have made it difficult to close the tip. This area is privately owned and the property owner has requested that nobody unauthorized trespass on his property. If any evidence is located on a tip the Norton Shores Police or the Michigan State Police will release the information. Any other information should be looked at as false until confirmed.
The Michigan State Police and the Norton Shores Police Departments are committed to searching for Jessica Heeringa until she is found.
