PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff expected to impact Eastern Santa Rosa starting at 3 p.m., Red Flag Warning goes into effect at noon.

PG&E will begin shutting off power to a significant portion of Santa Rosa at around 3 p.m. this afternoon  unless conditions change. PG&E anticipates that restoration of power may begin on Thursday, October 24th at noon. PG&E has indicated that they will make every effort to restore power within 24-48 hours after the weather system has passed. However, total outage duration will depend on weather conditions and extent of repairs, if any.

Anticipated Traffic Signal Outages and Driver Safety
Multiple intersections are expected to be without power including during the afternoon rush-hour commute.  Public Safety officials urge drivers to reduce speeds, drive with caution and treat all inspections without power as a 4-way stop, per state law. Based on information received from PG&E, the City anticipates traffic signals at more than 20 intersections will be nonfunctional during the shutoff. A complete list of those impacted intersections will be available soon at srcity.org/emergency

Stop signs are being staged at intersections with the highest traffic volume and roadway speed to help remind drivers that they must stop at intersections where signals are out.

Red Flag Warning
A Red Flag Warning will be in effect for ALL of Santa Rosa and includes a majority of Sonoma County from Wednesday (10/23) at noon to Thursday (10/24) at 4 p.m.

Santa Rosa Fire Department has extra staffing in place that includes two additional staffed engines and an extra battalion chief. The City’s Emergency Operation Center has also been activated.
