Fatal collision at Pacific Coast Highway and Artesia Boulevard is being investigated as possible DUI

Suspect: 21 year old Female Hawthorne resident
Charge: 191.5(a) PC- Vehicular Manslaughter
Vehicle: 2015 Silver Honda Civic
Victim: 24 year old Female Los Angeles resident
Vehicle: 2019 Black Nissan Kicks
Narrative: On 10-23-19 at approximately 2 a.m., there was a two-car collision at Pacific Coast Highway and Artesia Boulevard. The collision was significant with one of the vehicles ultimately striking a traffic signal pole at high speed. The driver of that vehicle (2019 Nissan Kick) was severely injured and pronounced deceased at the scene by Emergency Medical Service and Fire Department personnel.
The driver of the other vehicle (2015 Honda) suffered minor to moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital. After receiving medical treatment, she was arrested and booked by Hermosa Beach Police Department (HBPD) officers for Vehicular Manslaughter. The suspect was being held at the HBPD jail on $130,000 bail and bonded out later the same day.
The investigation of the collision is ongoing and officials believe Driving Under the Influence (DUI) is a factor in the collision.
