PRESS RELEASE

SUBJECT: Prepare for PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff TONIGHT

CONTACT: Teresa Johnson, Tel. (209)736-2181/[email protected]

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The City of Angels Camp reminds our community to be prepared for an upcoming PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) tentatively scheduled to occur TONIGHT between midnight and 4:00 am.
The outage may last several days.

Visit www.prepareforpowerdown.com for detailed information about preparing for power outages.

PG&E offers the following tips to prepare for a power outage before you lose power:

• Confirm or update your contact information with PG&E. PG&E will send notification to the contact they have on file in advance of a shutoff, when possible. pge.com/mywildfirealerts
• Create a safety plan for all members of your family, including pets. A PSPS can happen at any time, day or night, due to changing weather conditions.
• Prepare an emergency supply kit. Include enough water and nonperishable food to last your household one week. Don’t forget food for your pets.
• Determine if your landline will work during an outage. Keep a mobile phone as a backup.
• Keep mobile phones and other devices charged.
• If you have a generator, make sure it’s ready to operate safely.
• Have flashlights available for your household. Avoid using candles.
• Have a battery-powered or crank radio.
• Stock up on the right batteries for items you rely on. Include two extra sets in various sizes.
• Keep cash on hand and a full tank of gas. ATMs and gas stations may not be available during an outage.
• Learn how to manually open your garage door or any other door that operates with electricity.
• Talk with your manager if you live or work in a building that uses electronic key card access to understand how to deal with a possible multi-day outage.

PG&E’s outages will occur in response to localized weather conditions and may not be fully known until the day of the event. The decision to turn off the power and the speed at which it is restored is planned and managed solely by PG&E. Citizens need to prepare for being without power for several days. PG&E will attempt to notify customers of PSPS outages through calls, texts, and emails using the contact information that PG&E has on file. Be sure your contact information is up-to-date with PG&E at pge.com/mywildfirealerts.
