SHELTER UPDATE
Six shelters have been opened in Petaluma. All are full at this time. The County of Sonoma is arranging for more shelters throughout the region. We will keep the community informed as space opens up.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
NEW Blankets, Pillows and Towels Needed - Petaluma is sheltering nearly 1,500 evacuees. They are in need of NEW blankets, pillows and towels. If you can donate, please drop them off at the Kenilworth Teen Center located 150 Fairgrounds Dr.
Petaluma People Services Center is coordinating volunteers and donations to assist with shelter and emergency response needs. To volunteer or offer a donation, please send an email to [email protected], call 707-529-1201 or register in person at the Kenilworth Teen Center, 150 Fairgrounds Dr.
Volunteering or donating through Petaluma People Services Center will make sure that evacuees and first responders receive what they need in the most organized and sensitive way possible. We will send out additional information as our volunteer and donation needs change.
CITY HALL CLOSED MONDAY 10/28
Petaluma City Hall will be closed on Monday, 10/28.
SCHOOLS CLOSING
Sonoma County Office of Education has announced that all Sonoma County Schools will be closed Monday (10/28) and Tuesday (10/29). To stay updated, visit the SCOE Website. Sonoma State and Santa Rosa Junior College have also announced they will be closed Monday (10/28) and Tuesday (10/29).
NEW SHUTOFF ANNOUNCED
The current Public Safety Power Shutoff is planned to continue through Monday (10/28/2019). Approximately 4,000 customers have lost power, primarily on the west side of the City. PG&E has announced they are preparing for another similar event that is expected to begin early Tuesday (10/29/19) morning. Parts of Petaluma may be affected by this new power shutoff. Stay tuned for more information about the new power shutoff.
TRAFFIC SAFETY ALERT
Traffic signals at the following intersections are not working:
- I Street/Petaluma Blvd South
- Mountain View/Petaluma Blvd South
- McNear/Petaluma Blvd South
- D Street/Sunnyslope
- Lakeville/Marina
We encourage residents to avoid these intersections if possible. Remember that when coming to a traffic signal that is not working, you must stop and treat it like a like a four-way stop signed intersection. If you are not part of the evacuation, please stay off the roads as much as possible. Get more traffic safety tips here.
PETALUMA ASKED TO LIMIT WATER USE
Sonoma Water Agency water production facilities have been switched to emergency generator power. For this reason, we ask that all Petaluma residents, businesses, and visitors limit water use until further notice. We will keep you posted as this situation unfolds.
NO OUTDOOR FIRES
To avoid setting of additional fires, please do not use barbecues or burn any outdoor fires.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
City of Petaluma staff will continue monitoring the situation and preparing city facilities and infrastructure for potential impacts of the power shutoff and fire evacuations.
