The Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit has identified the deceased male in this accident as 23 year old Shawn Michael Miller Jr. of Wichita Falls, Texas.
***Original Release***
On October 28, 2019 at 1:34 AM, APD officers were dispatched to motor vehicle collision in the 5700 block of South Georgia. A 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by a 23 year old male, had been southbound on Georgia Street. The driver lost control of his vehicle, crossed over the northbound lanes and struck a steel power transmission pole on the eastside of the road. The Cavalier continued south for about half a block before coming to a rest. The driver was transported to a local area hospital where he later died of his injuries. Speed is a factor in this crash. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department. The identity of the driver will be released when next of kin has been notified.
