Stay Safe and Enjoy Halloween

Northfield Twp Police would like our young residents to celebrate Halloween Safely:

• Set specific time limits for your trick or treating (6pm-8pm)

• Adults should walk with young children

• Older children without an adult escort should walk with a group

• Make sure all children and escorts have flashlights with fresh batteries

• Make sure all costumes allow for children to see where they are walking, ensuring their peripheral vision is not blocked

• Remind older children to leave electronic devices out of their ears

• Focus on where one is walking, keep phones put away until later. Do not walk while texting, especially when crossing a street

• Remind children to look both ways and listen carefully for cars before crossing any street

• Remind older children that they should never enter a stranger’s home

• After trick or treating, have adults inspect the candy

• Never eat open candy.
