INCIDENT: Possession of Controlled Substances and Narcotics for Sale / Possession of Stolen Property

LOCATION: 23700 Block of Lake Drive, in the community of Crestline

SUSPECT(S): Ryan Michel, 36-years-old, resident of Crestline
Juan Hurtado, 21-years-old, resident of Crestline
Jamie Basham, 29-years-old, resident of Crestline

SUMMARY:
On Monday, October 28, 2019 at approximately 10:20PM, deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff's Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) initiated a vehicle check on a white Penske rental van, in the 23700 Block of Lake Drive, in the community of Crestline. The passenger of the vehicle, Juan Hurtado, was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. The driver of the vehicle, Ryan Michel, was found to be in possession of suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia.

During a search of the Penske rental van, deputies located several grams of suspected methamphetamine, suspected heroin, two electronic scales, dozens of plastic baggies, US currency in different denominations, and other drug paraphernalia concealed in a hidden compartment inside the van. In addition to the narcotics, deputies recovered over $950.00 worth of suspected stolen electronics and a large white pillow case containing over 300 pieces of stolen mail, each from a different victim. Deputies also identified a third suspect during the investigation, Jamie Basham, who was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine.

Juan Hurtado and Ryan Michel were arrested for violation of Health and Safety Code Sections 11378 and 11351, as well as violation of Penal Code Section 496(a), which included both the possession of controlled substances and narcotics for sale and possession of stolen property. Basham was arrested for violation of Health and Safety Code Section 11550(a), being under the influence of a controlled substance. Michel and Hurtado were both booked at Central Detention Center where they are being held on $125,000 bail. Basham was also booked at Central Detention Center and held on $10,000 bail.
