The City of Sierra Madre is conducting it's monthly test of the Emergence Alert System, today 10/29/19 at noon.
The City of Sierra Madre is conducting its monthly test of the Emergency alert system today, Tuesday, 10/29/19 at noon. You should receive a Nixle alert on your mobile phone and/or a reverse 9-1-1 call. Many of you may hear the siren that is located at the city yard facility. If you do not hear the siren, it is important to remember. In the event of a real emergency, the siren is only one part of a larger emergency alert system. There will also be postings on City Social Media (City of Sierra Madre and Sierra Madre PD's Face Book pages) and information on the City's radio station (1630 AM). The test is meant to simulate how notifications would work if there was an actual emergency. If you don't receive the alerts as listed above, you can sign up for the Nixle app by texting your zip code to 888-777, on line at www.nixle.com or call the Police Department for additional assistance at 626/355-4596. In the event of a real emergency we will utilize the same systems we are testing as described above. Please sign up for any or all of the above to receive alert messages. T
