Power Shutoff Update for American Canyon 10/29/19 2 PM

Tuesday, October 29, 2019 10:00 AM

Please share this information with your neighbors! Our next planned update will be between  2 - 4 PM (Tuesday, October 29), unless conditions change. The City of American Canyon does not control power but will continue to advocate for residents and businesses, and share information as soon as it's available.

  • We have confirmed with PG&E they have begun the de-energization process (shutoff) for the new Public Safety Shutoff, which includes American Canyon. We obviously won’t notice this new shutoff, since they were unable to restore power from the last shutoff.  We are in constant contact with PG&E and our County partners. PG&E believes they will be able to inspect and repair lines, beginning Wednesday 10/30/19 at 0800, and it takes approx. 48 hours AFTER inspections to re-energize power lines. For details about the outage and restoration times call PG&E at 1-800-743-5002 or visit

  • The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from noon today, to 11 AM Wednesday. The  PG&E transmission lines that travel through American Canyon are impacted by the advisories, although we are not expecting to experience high winds here.

  • Our Police officers, Fire Protection District personnel, and American Canyon CERT Team continue to be available throughout the community to assist residents and businesses. Anyone in need of emergency assistance should call dispatch at (707) 253-4451 or call 911.

  • There are no fires currently in Napa County. Visible smoke is from fires elsewhere.

  • A charging station is open at the Community Center Gym located at 100 Benton Way until 9 PM. Printed copies of our updates will be available at the charging station.

  • All NVUSD schools in American Canyon are closed Tuesday. Please visit NVUSD website for updates. The American Canyon Boys & Girls Club (60 Benton Way)  is open and offering free services for 1st - 8th grade aged children from 8 AM to 6 PM.

  • City Hall and the Parks & Recreation Office are closed Tuesday, Oct. 29.

  • The California Department of Health and Human Services has established a hotline for medically-vulnerable persons that need non-emergency assistance during the PG&E power shutoff. The phone number is (833) 284-3473.

  • The Napa County Animal Shelter has been activated to assist Sonoma County in the Kincade Fire. They are closed until 11/4/19. If you found a stray animal, call Animal Control Dispatch at 707-253-4517. For all other inquiries, call 707-253-4382.

  • DRIVE CAREFULLY! Slow down, follow the law, stop at intersections and treat broken traffic signals as 4-way stops.

Cellular connection has been intermittent, we will post printouts of this update at the charging station located at 100 Benton Way, and on the door or gate at the following locations: City Hall (4381 Broadway), Senior Multi-Use Center (2185 Elliott Drive), Corporation Yard (205 Wetlands Edge Road), Wetlands Edge Trail Kiosk (Wetlands & Eucalyptus), Boys & Girls Club (60 Benton), and the American Canyon Library (300 Crawford).
