Advisory

Southern California Edison (SCE) has advised of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in the early morning.

Southern California Edison (SCE) has advised that Stallion Springs, Bear Valley Springs and other areas in the greater Tehachapi area may experience a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Please be prepared, your electricity may be shut off for an extended amount of time.

The National Weather Service has issues a Red Flag Warning for the Tehachapi Mountains from 5:00 am on Wednesday morning to midnight. A combination of strong winds and low relative humidity can contribute to extreme fire behavior triggering this Red Flag Warning.

The National Weather Service has forecast the temperatures for tonight to be in the mid 30’s with the high being 49 degrees during the daytime.

Stallion Springs residents who rely on electricity for critical life-sustaining equipment are reminded to sign up for SCE’s Medical Baseline program at 1-800-447-6620 or their website at www.sce.com/residential/assistance/medical-baseline. SCE telephone operators are available Monday- Friday 6am to 9pm and Saturday 8am to 5pm P.D.T.

On Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 6:00 am, the Stallion Springs Community Services District will activate the Emergency Operation Center at the Stallion Springs Community Services District building located at 27800 Stallion Springs Drive, to support residents and those with critical life-sustaining equipment and others that are impacted by the power outage. The EOC may be activated earlier if the need by the community is present.

Please note that this facility does not have qualified medical personnel to assist with life sustaining equipment and cannot provide any transportation needs. Residents will be assisted by a group of SSCSD employees or volunteers. Sleeping cots and the ability to charge devices will be available on site.

Southern California Edison will have a Community Outreach vehicle parked at the Stallion Springs Community Services District building. The vehicle is equipped with water, snacks and an electrical power station to charge devices. They are also here to address your concerns and can answer any questions that you may have in regards to this PSPS event. The vehicle will be in operation on Wednesday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
