ARREST REPORT: BTPD Arrests man for Arson on Megan's Lane
On Thursday, October 31, 2019, the Burlington Township Police Department arrested and charged Brian Kolarovic, a 35-year-old male from Burlington, NJ, for arson and related offenses stemming from a condominium fire that originated earlier that morning. The investigation began at approximately 3:40 AM when police, fire, and EMS units were dispatched to the 1200 block of Megan’s Lane in Burlington, NJ for a condominium fire. Upon arrival, emergency personnel located an active fire and initiated fire suppression operations as well as evacuation protocols for surrounding residents. While doing so, police received reports that Kolarovic was the resident of the condominium that was on fire and was last seen walking away just as the fire began. Within minutes, police found Kolarovic walking on Kelly Drive in the area of Route 541, and they took him into custody when their investigation revealed that he purposely started the fire. Kolarovic has been charged with one count of aggravated arson, one count of causing or risking widespread injury or damage, and one count of criminal mischief. He is currently in police custody undergoing processing. The fire resulted in severe damage to Kolarovic’s unit and one adjoining unit. Two more adjoining units experienced minor damage as a result of smoke and fire suppression activities. No injuries were reported, and the fire was under control at 4:33 AM. The investigation is being conducted by the Burlington Township Police Department and the Burlington Township Fire Official.
