FINAL UPDATE ON THE POWER SHUT OFF AND A THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY

10/31/2019

As of 8Pm last night the final 42 residents' power was restored. We are told by PG&E that all of Fairfax is back on.

I want to personally thank all of our residents for their patience, understanding and friendliness to not only my staff but TownHall and Public Works staff as well.

Your police officers and dispatchers worked long days beginning Friday in preparation of this PSPS continuing through yesterday. Some working 12-15hr days and no days off.

The charging station here at the Police Lobby was a true community gathering. It was really an incredible thing to see. Residents, non residents and businesses delivered Food to the Police station throughout this event since our personnel were here working and unable to go out to find food items. The patience and kindness you all showed, not just to us, but each other was simply amazing.

While dealing with the PG&E PSPS and all things associated with that, we still had to address our normal police duties. All of your police staff juggled it all exceptionally well and I am so proud of all of them.

While this was all out of all of our control, it was a good experience to test our protocols and ability to continue to provide 24x7 police services to our community.

There were a handful of residents who complained about the Town's response and found fault with things as they often do. This segment was just a handful.

I am very pleased with how our community came together and supported each other and Town Staff. We all worked together and made the best of a bad situation.

Lastly, I was happy to meet so many of you here at the Police Station that I had not met prior. This is a jewel of a community and I am very proud to be your Police Chief.
