Flood Advisory until 11:45PM

The National Weather Service in State College PA has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Poor Drainage Areas for... Northwestern Lancaster County in south central Pennsylvania... Western York County in south central Pennsylvania... Southeastern Dauphin County in south central Pennsylvania... Southeastern Lebanon County in south central Pennsylvania...

* Until 1145 PM EDT.

* At 842 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain which will cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Lancaster, York, Lebanon, Weigelstown, Elizabethtown, Columbia, Lititz, Mount Joy, Parkville, Red Lion, Spry, Manheim, Annville, East Petersburg, Cornwall, Dallastown, Myerstown, Shiloh, East York and Stonybrook-Wilshire. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

* AFFECTED AREAS: LEBANON, PA ... YORK, PA ... DAUPHIN, PA ... LANCASTER, PA

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
