Armed Robberies - Update
On October 31, 2019, Davis Police officers responded to an armed robbery and attempted car-jacking in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Shasta Drive. Approximately 45 minutes later, officers responded to a second armed robbery and carjacking that occurred in the area of 7th/D St. A subsequent investigation revealed the two incidents were related. After the second incident the suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle. Davis Police detectives were called in to investigate both incidents.
On November 2, 2019 Woodland police officers recovered the stolen vehicle after a brief pursuit. Davis police detectives worked together with the Woodland Police Department over a two day period and arrested a 17 year old male Woodland resident for evading police and weapons charges.
Davis Police detectives continue to work with the Woodland Police Department following up on additional suspects and charges.

We strongly recommend that community members remain vigilant. There have been 7 armed robberies in Davis in the last 6 weeks. In most of the incidents, the victims were walking alone and all but one occurred in the evening hours during darkness. In order to avoid becoming a victim, and reduce the potential for harm, we encourage the following:
1. Avoid walking alone late in the evening hours.
2. If you must walk alone, avoid dark unpopulated areas.
3. Avoid using or being distracted by your cellphone while in public.
4. Cooperate if you are confronted by an armed or potentially armed person; property can always be replaced.
5. Report suspicious persons and/or behavior.
6. Activate tracking software on phones and electronic devices.
