10/01/2019 *Road Rage – Careless Driving Citation (ticket) Issued
7 Mile & Earhart– An officer responded to the station regarding a road rage incident. The incident began at 7 Mile Rd and Earhart, and involved the drivers of 2 vehicles. Upon completion of the investigation, one of the drivers was issued a citation for Careless Driving.
10/02/2019 * UDAA – Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile
Harbor Cove – A resident reported that he observed his Blue 2010 Yamaha R6 motorcycle parked under the carport on Tuesday October 1 at approximately 7:30 pm, but discovered it missing from its’ stand on Wednesday October 2 at 7:00 am. No investigative leads were available at the time of the report. Anyone having any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Northfield Police.
10/03/2019 * Attempt Breaking & Entering – Trespass Warning Issued
Polly’s Market – The owner reported that upon opening the store for the day, he discovered pieces of an ID fall from the rear door jam. The officer investigating the incident located the teenage owner of the ID and it was determined there was no intent to commit a criminal act. The teenage suspect was issued a trespass warning and is not allowed in the store.
10/05/2019 *Road Rage – Careless Driving Citation Issued
Whitmore Lake & Joy Rd – An Officer responded to a road rage argument. A witness stated she observed and filmed an irate driver of a Grand Am yelling at a 2nd driver. The driver of the Grand Am then bent up his license plate and left the scene. After interviewing the complainant, the officer looked for and located the Grand Am. The officer issued the driver of the Grand Am a civil infraction ticket for Careless driving.
10/05/2019 * Fraud –Extortion
Harbor Cove- A victim reported that he believed he was “conned” out of money. After meeting someone on an adult dating site –there was an exchange of phone numbers. Text conversations were initiated and then the victim received an unsolicited nude photo and later was advised that the individual was still a minor. The victim was contacted by text from an individual and threatened to forward money or face possible criminal charges. After a 2nd demand for money, the victim became suspicious.
*****Never send money to someone you have not met. Further, no government agency will text you to send money in lieu of facing criminal charges. Government agencies will either send you a letter or knock on your door. They will not ask for money to be wired through an app or through western union.
10/06/2019 *Arrest - Fugitive Warrant
300 Block of N. Territorial – An officer on patrol observed a vehicle that had a warrant for the registered owner. The officer confirmed the driver was the owner and placed the suspect in custody. Upon confirmation of the warrant, the warrant holding agency decided not to hold the suspect in custody, the suspect was released and advised to contact the court.
10/07/2019 * Identity Theft
9400 Block of Dixboro- A complainant reported that he recently moved to Whitmore Lake and his mail is being forwarded from his previous address. The complainant stated that among the forwarded mail was a new I-phone which he did not purchase. The complainant contacted I-phone who confirmed all of his personal information was used to order the phone. The victim, has returned the phone, has requested a credit check, added a freeze and was advised to report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission. No liability is being held against the complainant. The case was closed.
10/09/2019 *Arrest Fugitive Warrants – OWI –Larceny (2 count)-Receiving & Concealing Stolen Goods & Improper plates
300 Block of Emerald Circle – An officer on patrol had knowledge of a 5 count Misdemeanor warrant for a subject residing in our jurisdiction. The officer located the subject and placed him under arrest. The subject was not able to post his $6500.00 bond and was turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrants.
10/10/2019 *Malicious Destruction of Property
Emerald Circle – A resident reported that sometime during the night of 10/09/19, someone shot a possible pellet round through his side window of his vehicle. The window shattered like an eggshell. The complainant stated that his dogs became upset between 8:30 & 9:30 pm that evening and believes this was the time of the incident. If anyone has any information regarding this incident they are asked to contact the Northfield Twp Police.
10/10/2019 * Hit & Run
E Joy Rd & Nollar Rd -Officers responded to a hit & run involving a dark colored Ford Taurus. The caller observed the Taurus strike a mailbox and continue east. The caller attempted to follow the suspect vehicle, but lost sight of the vehicle. No further information on the vehicle or any additional evidence was left at the scene. The mailbox owner was notified.
10/11/2019 *B & E Business
60 E. North Territorial -Citgo Gas Station – At 2:30am an officer responded to an alarm and discovered a shattered glass window and cracked glass door. After additional officers arrived, the building was searched for suspects, but no suspects were on scene. Several cartons of cigarettes were stolen. The incident was caught on video and the suspect is described as a white male wearing a black zip up hooded sweatshirt, light colored t-shirt and gray shoes. The suspect left in a black sedan, south on U.S 23. The case remains under investigation. If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are asked to contact the Northfield Twp Police.
10/12/2019 *B&E Storage Area
Northfield Estates - The maintenance manager reported that sometime between 10/11/2019 & 10/12/2019 a suspect cut the pad lock, entered and stole a snowplow from the secured fenced storage area. The case is under investigation.
10/12/2019 *Arrest- Operating While Intoxicated
Six Mile & Madouse – Officers responded to a single vehicle crash, with the vehicle in the ditch. When officers arrived they discovered a confused driver that displayed signs of intoxication. After confirming no immediate medical attention was needed, the driver was asked to perform sobriety tasks. The Officer determined that the driver was intoxicated and was arrested. The driver suspect, was taken to U of M for medical clearance and then held at the Washtenaw County Jail pending sobriety and bond. The vehicle was impounded.
10/15/2019 *Arrest-Driving on a Suspended License / Fugitive Warrant
8 Mile Rd & U.S. 23 – An Officer observed a traffic violation (speed, defective equipment) upon the traffic stop, the Officer discovered the driver was driving on a suspended license and had a warrant out for his arrest. The driver was arrested and turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrant. The Suspended license case was forwarded to the prosecutor for review pending charges.
10/16/2019 *Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card
E. Five Mile Rd – A resident reported unauthorized charges on her credit card statement. A report was filed and the account was closed. The officer advised the card holder to report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) where the vicitm can obtain a recovery plan.
10/17/2019 * Juvenile Assault and Battery
Emerald Circle – Officers investigated a juvenile fight,and upon completion of the investigation the complaining victim signed a waiver of prosecution. No charges will be sought.
10/19/2019 *Assault & Battery
Emerald Circle – A victim reported that when she attempted to retrieve property from a former housemate’s residence; the housemate became agitated, pushing her into a railing. An Officer investigated the incident, presented the facts to the prosecutor, and Assault and Battery charges were authorized.
10/21/2019 *Larceny of Yard Signs
Calvary Baptist Church – A church representative reported that around midnight 3 signs in favor of voting yes to proposal 1 were taken off their property by an unknown individual. Video footage captured the incident and the case remains under investigation.
10/22/2019 *Arrest – Fugitive Warrants
9800 Block of Main St – Officer on patrol observed a traffic violation – expired plates. Upon stop of the vehicle, the officer discovered the driver had outstanding warrants. The suspect driver, was arrested and turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrants. The driver was issued citations for the traffic violation.
10/27/2019 *Arrest- Impersonating an Officer
East Shore – Officers received information from another jurisdiction that a driver reported he was pulled over for a traffic stop by a subject identifying himself as an officer. The driver became suspicious and notified the local police. A Northfield Twp Officer located the vehicle and the possible suspect involved. The suspect (a resident of Northfield Twp) was arrested after being identified. A search warrant was obtained for his home and evidence was seized.
10/29/2019 *Fraud
Turquoise St- A victim reported that he was expecting a settlement check which he did not receive; however, the company advised the check had been cashed. The victim learned that the check was forwarded to a new address, where he believes it was opened and cashed by a family member. The case remains under investigation.
10/30/2019 *Arrest – Operating While Intoxicated 3rd Offense/Fleeing and Eluding Police/ Leaving the Scene of a Traffic Crash
U.S. 23 Exit Ramp and N. Territorial – An officer on patrol, witnessed a vehicle crash into the guardrail as the driver was exiting the freeway. The Northfield Twp Officer had just received radio information about a vehicle involved in several crashes that had fled from police in a neighboring jurisdiction. The Officer made a traffic stop, and after assessing the uncooperative 39 year old male driver, arrested the driver for Operating While Intoxicated. The driver refused all chemical breath tests and a search warrant was obtained for his blood. The driver was confirmed to be the one that fled from police after previous crashes. The driver was turned over to the jurisdiction he fled from and charges will be submitted upon receiving lab results of the blood analysis.
10/31/2019 *Harassment
Ruby Lane – A complainant reported that he was receiving harassing text messages from a possible acquaintance. The case remains under investigation.
