The Turlock Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday, November 10, 2019, near the intersection of West Main Street and West Avenue South.

At approximately 12:15 a.m., the Turlock Police Department received calls about a solo vehicle collision involving a sedan near the intersection of West Main Street and West Avenue South. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the sedan, which was being driven at a high rate of speed by a 22 year-old-male, was heading east on W. Main Street.

As the driver approached the intersection with West Avenue South the driver struck a concrete island causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle then collided with a telephone pole, sheering the pole from its base. The vehicle continued moving, striking a concrete wall, causing the vehicle to overturn and land in the intersection of West Main Street and Farr Street. The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle and was declared deceased on scene. It is believed that alcohol was a contributing factor to this collision. The deceased was the only occupant of the vehicle. His name is not being released at this time pending next of kin notification.
