Synopsis: This incident occurred in the private parking area of the Esplanade at Spectrum Center, Condominium Complex. P-1 is a 66 year old male driving a 2019 Grey Dodge 1500 Series Pick-up truck. P-2 in the collision is a 2 year old male. P-1 was moving his vehicle within the parking area and was backing up. He was being guided by his son. P-1 then moved his vehicle forward without realizing his 2 year old toddler grandson had run into the path of the vehicle. P-1 struck P-2 with the vehicle. P-2 was transported to Rady Children's Hospital by Paramedics for treatment of her injuries. P-2 sustained a fractured right pelvis and a fractured left femur. The injuries are not considered life threatening. Alcohol or drugs are not considered to be a factor in this collision. SDPD Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
