Duarte Crime Blotter for the Week of November 10-16, 2019

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of November 10-16, 2019:        
 
November 10, 2019

  • Driving under the Influence Arrest:
At approximately 11:38 pm, deputies responded to a traffic collision in the 2300 block of Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, they observed a vehicle on the front lawn of the apartment building located at 2306 Huntington Drive. The vehicle appeared to have collided with a tree and a block wall. The 19 year old driver was located and detained.  fter further investigation, the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.  
 
November 11, 2019
  • Vehicle Burglary:
A vehicle burglary was reported at 1824 Evergreen Street (Unique Chic). Between 4:00 am on November 11th and 10:00 am on the 12th, persons unknown removed the lock to the vans cargo bed and stole four aluminum dollies, an aluminum ladder and thirty drapery rods. The loss was estimated at approximately $1,600. 
 
  • Residential Burglary:
At approximately 2:45 pm, residents in the 1500 block of Calle Andres were returning home, when they observed an adult male black jump the fence into their back yard and open the screen door to the patio slider. When confronted, the suspect ran back to the front of the house and rode away on a green bike. The victim followed the suspect, but lost sight of him as the suspect turned eastbound Huntington Drive from Highland Avenue. It is unknown if the suspect ever made entry into the home.  Nothing appeared to have been disturbed or missing.

November 14, 2019
  • Grand Theft:
A grand theft was reported in the 3400 block of Conata Avenue. Between 1:30 and 1:45 pm, persons unknown stole two leaf blowers from a gardener’s trailer while he was working in the backyard of his client’s home. The loss was estimated at $960.
 
  • Grand Theft Auto Arrest:
While on patrol, deputies observed a female standing by a vehicle with expired registration in the 3200 block of Royal Oaks Drive. Upon contacting the female, she told deputies she bought the vehicle for $200 but had no paperwork in her possession. The female was detained pending a possible unreported stolen vehicle investigation. The female was unable to provide any documentation regarding the purchase of the vehicle, nor a phone number or address of the person she purchased the vehicle from. During the investigation, it was determined the female was driving on a suspended license and has been arrested in the past for vehicle theft. After further investigation, the suspect was arrested for grand theft auto.              
 
November 15, 2019
  • Shoplifting Arrest:
A grand theft was reported at 1470 Mountain Avenue (Best Buy). At approximately 3:20 pm, store security observed an adult male transient with a duffle bag select two “X-Box One” consoles, then proceeded to enter the women’s restroom. When an employee contacted the male, he refused to exit the stall. Upon arrival of deputies, they observed the male inside the stall with a duffle bag next to him and two empty “X-Box One” console boxes by the trash can. After a few minutes, the male exited the stall and was detained without incident. After further investigation, he was arrested for shoplifting.   
 
  • Vehicle Burglary:
A vehicle burglary was reported in the 2300 block of Bloomdale Street. Sometime during the night, person’s unknown punched the locking mechanism on the victim’s truck and stole approximately $2,000 in work tools. 
 
November 16, 2019
  • Grand Theft Auto:
Between 5:30 pm on November 14th and 11:30 am on the 16th, persons unknown stole a 2006 Nissan Titan pickup from a driveway in the 1600 block of First Street. The vehicle is still outstanding.    
 
  • Petty Theft:
A petty theft was reported in the 800 block of Beckville Street. At approximately 8:00 pm, an adult male as observed by a neighbor taking tools from the bed of the victims truck. Taken were $150 in miscellaneous tools and a five gallon jug of oil.
