The Sleepy Eye Police Department has received calls about a scam that seems to be targeting Brown County right now. The scam is targeting older people. The scammer calls an older resident and states that they are the resident’s grandson that they have been placed in jail for a violation. The scammer asks the resident to send money for their bail. The Sleepy Eye Police Department just wants everyone to know that this is a scam and no money should be sent. The Police Department advises that a call be made to the resident’s actual grandson or the family to verify the scam, if there is a doubt if this is a real situation.
