Public Works
Projects—
- Pearl Street Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program Improvements – The contractor has removed and replaced several sections of defective sidewalk at no cost to the City. Backfilling and landscaping will continue as the weather allows. Street lights have been ordered, and all of the concrete bases and wiring have been installed. Street lighting is delayed due to manufacturer supply issues. Staff have requested a more up-to-date schedule from the contractor.
- 2019 Road Resurfacing Program – The project is 100% complete. Due to some value engineering adjustments that were made during construction, staff are projecting that the final contract value will be $80k-$90k under the awarded value.
- Curran Road Highway Safety Improvement Program Project – The contractor completed the aggregate shoulder work as well as the installation of new warning signs (curve ahead, speed advisory, and chevrons). The proposed guardrail work has been delayed due to a potential conflict with an AT&T phone cable. Additional on-site investigation is being performed, and a relocation of the existing phone cable may be needed. Staff are coordinating with the contractor, IDOT, AT&T, and the resident engineer to resolve the issue and will have more information next week.
Street Division—
- Crews have been installing snow fence on Curran Road, Martin Road, and Bull Valley Road.
- Crews poured four yards of concrete and continue to fill potholes throughout the City.
- Personnel repaired a leaking water service at 238 Loch Glen Lane which caused a minor disruption in service for the resident while the repair was made.
