Winter Storm Warning until 02:00PM Wednesday

...SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS TO HOLIDAY TRAVEL TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY DUE TO WINTER WEATHER... .A powerful winter storm will produce heavy mountain snow, strong winds, and low elevation small hail Tuesday and Wednesday. Confidence continues to increase that winter weather will cause significant impacts to holiday travel Tuesday and Wednesday, particularly across interior mountain roadways above 2500 feet in elevation.

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches inches likely above 2500 feet in elevation, with even greater totals above 4000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.

* WHERE...Elevations above 2500 feet in Trinity, Humboldt interior, and Del Norte interior. Elevations above 3000 feet in northeastern Mendocino County.

* WHEN...From 10 AM Tuesday to 2 PM PST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult to impossible along interior mountain roads. The hazardous conditions could impact holiday travel, in addition to morning and evening commutes. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTHERN HUMBOLDT INTERIOR ... NORTHEASTERN MENDOCINO INTERIOR ... SOUTHERN TRINITY ... SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT INTERIOR ... NORTHERN TRINITY ... DEL NORTE INTERIOR
