The UMTPD has a special holiday message for you

Dear Citizens of Upper Macungie Township,

On behalf of all of the officers and administrative staff of the Upper Macungie Township Police Department, it is my pleasure to wish you and your families the safest and warmest of Thanksgiving blessings this holiday season.

With the holiday comes some of the busiest travel days of the year, which is why it is of the utmost importance that motorists think safety when venturing out to enjoy the holidays and visit with family and friends. We encourage travelers to travel with fully charged cell phones (and a car charger, too), and to make sure that everyone inside your vehicle is wearing seatbelts and child restraint seats. We also recommend topping off with a full tank of gasoline before a long trip and making sure your vehicles tires are properly inflated.

The Upper Macungie Township Police Department will be prepared to assist motorists and residents throughout the holiday weekend, and in addition, will be adding extra patrols to focus on impaired drivers and reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities.

As always, be well, be safe and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Edgardo A. Colón
Chief of Police
