11/01/2019 *Fugitive Warrant
Main St & Anna Dr – An Officer on patrol, observed a suspect wanted on an outstanding OWI Property Damage warrant. After confirming the warrant, the warrant holding agency requested the suspect be advised of the warrant and told tocontact the court. No arrest was made.

11/01/2019 *Arrest Fugitive Warrant
Emerald Circle – An Officer located and arrested a suspect wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The Officer turned over the suspect to the jurisdiction holding the warrant.

11/03/2019 *Fraud – Counterfeit Money
Westbrook Apts- A complainant stated that he sold an item on Facebook Marketplace and after the purchaser left, the seller discovered the cash bills were not real (counterfeit). The complainant provided officers with the vehicle information of the purchaser. Through the investigation the fraudulent buyer returned the item to the seller.

11/05/2019 *Larceny by Trick (Fraud)—Computer Transaction
Trudy Lane – A victim reported that through an Amazon order, she was defrauded “conned” out of several thousand dollars. The victim received an incorrect Amazon order and located a contact number on-line to report the mix up. The online number was a “fake” site, the individuals representing themselves as Amazon employees informed the victim that her Amazon account had been hacked. The victim was transfer to the fraudulent “cyber technicians”. These convincing suspects, manipulated the victim to believe she would be receiving a refund in her bank account. They then manipulated her to correct an error through gift cards purchases. The victim, discovered her bank account had a significant withdrawal. Amazon, the bank, and a federal agency are investigating the incident.

11/06/2019 *Fraud – Unauthorized Checks
Pontiac Trail – A local business discovered an inaccuracy in the business checking account. After reviewing the account, it was determined that two unauthorized checks had been written and cashed. The case remains under investigation.

11/06/2019 *Fraud- Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card
Opal Lane –A complaint was filed that an unauthorized purchase was made on line using the victims’ credit card. The transaction was stopped, a suspect identified and the case remains under investigation.

11/11/2019 *Arrest – Driving on A Suspended License
Six Mile Rd & Madouse Ct – After responding to a motor vehicle crash, the Officer discovered the at fault driver was driving an uninsured vehicle and driving with a suspended driver’s license. The driver was arrested, processed at the police station, given an appearance ticket with a court date and released.

11/12/2019 *Arrest- Driving on Suspended License
East North Territorial & Dixboro- An Officer on patrol observed a known suspended driver, driving a vehicle. The Officer stopped the vehicle and the driver could not produce a license. The Officer arrested and issued the driver a Misdemeanor appearance ticket for Driving on a Suspended License. The driver was also cited for no proof of Insurance, and Expired License Plate. The subject and vehicle were released to the passenger who held a valid license

11/12/2019 *Uttering & Publishing
600 W. Joy Rd – A complainant for a rental business discovered fraudulent checks written against the account. All check payments were cancelled by the bank, with none impacting the complainants account. The case was closed as good monitoring of the account interrupted the opportunity for losses.

11/14/2019 *Larceny of Package
300 block of East Shore – A victim reported that he received notification on 11/13/2019 at 3:11pm that a package was delivered to his home. At 5:45pm when the victim returned home, he was unable to locate the package and believes that someone stole it from his residence. The package contained magnets for the South Lyon Hotel. The case remains under investigation.

11/14/2019 *Identity Theft
600 Block of E. North Territorial – A resident reported that she received information that someone was attempting to open credit cards in her name. All credit cards were denied before the cards were opened and a report was filed with Northfield Police and the Federal Trade Commission.

REMEMBER: It is important to monitor your credit for any unauthorized credit cards or loans.

11/15/2019 *Arrest – Driving on a Suspended License 2nd /Fugitive Warrants
East Shore & Posey Dr. – During a traffic stop, the Officer discovered the driver had no license, and had several outstanding warrants. The driver was arrested for Driving on a Suspended License 2nd Offense and for his outstanding warrants. The vehicle plate was removed and replaced with a temporary plate, the vehicle was impounded and the driver turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrants. The case was sent to the prosecutor’s office for review of the new suspended driving charges.

11/16/2019 *Larceny by Conversion
Van’s Archery – A complainant reported that on November 1, he took his custom made Compound Bow to Van’s for some work. When he arrived he was met by an unknown subject in the doorway. The subject identified himself as a relative of the family and took possession of the bow. The subject took the name and phone number of the complainant and advised him that his Bow would be fixed within a week. The owner of the Bow did not know that the business (Van’s) had permanently closed in July. The owners of Van’s stated that neither they nor any family member took possession of any bows this month and they confirmed that they have been permanently closed since July. A partial description of the subject and Chevy Silverado was given by the complainant. The case remains under investigation.

11/17/2019 * Operating While Intoxicated
N. Territorial & Earhart – Officers responded to a head on collision, injury accident. During the investigation an Officer detected an odor of intoxicants coming from one of the drivers and the driver admitted to consuming alcohol. While being treated at the hospital, the driver consented to a blood draw. The case remains open pending the lab results.

11/20/2019 *Assault & Battery
Whitmore Lake High School – Officers responded to an Assault & Battery report from the school. The investigation revealed that two male students, age 17 & 18 became upset with each other. During lunch one student approached the other and punched him in the face. The school took action, suspending the aggressor. The case is pending the prosecutor’s review.

11/20/2019 *Larceny by Trick
6300 Block of N. Maple – A victim came to the station to report suspicious phone calls that resulted in the manipulation to purchase gift cards to correct an Amazon error. After receiving a call from Medicare regarding a back brace and then Amazon claiming attempted charges were pending against his account; the victim allowed the caller to take control of his computer to credit his bank account. An error in the correction occurred, supposedly crediting too much to the victim’s account and then the caller convinced the victim to return funds via several different gift cards. The case remains under investigation.

NEVER PAY ANYONE WITH GIFT CARDS!! Gift cards are for gifts, they were not meant to be a means of payment. On Line transactions should be paid with credit cards, allowing rebates, refunds and corrections on purchases – to be credited

11/21/2019 *2 Arrests – Felony Fugitive Warrant &Misdemeanor Warrant
Jade Lane – Officers responded to a complaint of disorderly persons preparing to fight. During the investigation it was determined that 3 people involved had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Officers took two subjects into custody, but advised and released the 3rd subject as requested by the warrant holding agency. No further action was requested by the complainant regarding threats made during the initial altercation.

11/21/2019 *Malicious Destruction of Property - Automobile
Jade Lane- A complainant reported that after an argument with an acquaintance she discovered damage to her vehicle. The case remains under investigation.

11/24/2019 *Driving while License is Suspended
Main St & Seven Mile-An Officer on patrol observed an equipment violation and upon stop of the vehicle determined the driver was suspended and had outstanding warrants. The warrant holding agencies advised the subject to contact their court. The subject was cited for several violations.

11/24/2019 *Malicious Destruction of Property
Jade Lane –A report was made that sometime between 11pm & 7am on 11/24/2019, the tires of a visitor were cut, causing the tires to go flat. Evidence was collected at the scene and a person of interest was developed. The case remains open pending lab results from the evidence collected.

11/26/2019 *Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card
6400 Block of Whitmore Lake- Big Tex Trailers received a telephone purchase request, after verifying credit and personal information, the property was released. A second purchase was made a week later and then the owner of the credit card contacted the business to report the transactions were not made by him. A possible suspect has been developed. Further, the investigation revealed that this suspect may be involved in several other fraudulent thefts across several jurisdictions. The case remains open.

11/26/2019 *4 Arrests – Breaking & Entering Warrant, 2 Fugitive Warrants & Harboring a Felony Fugitive
Garnet Circle – An investigation led Officers to believe a wanted suspect was at a residence on Garnet Circle. Upon consensual entry the suspect was taken into custody, while two others were taken into custody for outstanding warrants. The resident owner of the home was taken into custody for harboring a felony fugitive. The two suspects arrested for the outstanding warrants were turned over to the jurisdictions holding the warrants. The B& E suspect was transported to the Washtenaw County jail and an arrest warrant was submitted to the prosecutor for the subject harboring the fugitive.

11/27/2019 *Arrest- Operating While Intoxicated
Main & 6 Mile Rd-After receiving two calls from local businesses regarding a very intoxicated subject driving an SUV style vehicle with a specific plate, officers observed the vehicle south on Main Street commit a traffic violation. Upon a traffic stop, the Officer smelled an odor of intoxicants. The driver of the vehicle was given sobriety evaluations and a preliminary breath test. Evidence was compiled to suggest the suspect was driving under the influence of intoxicating liquors. The subject was arrested and transported to Washtenaw County Jail.

11/28/2019 *Arrest - Robbery Suspect
9000 Block of Posey- Officers responded to a suspicious person situation in the area where three suspects had fled after a police chase (during the previous night) and only 2 were apprehended. A K-9 was requested and after receiving additional information from a resident reviewing her ring doorbell – a secondary location was checked with the K-9 discovering a subject hiding on an upper deck. The subject was arrested and turned over to Livingston County Sheriffs’ as the 3rd suspect believed to be involved in a robbery and police chase.

11/29/2019 *Arrest – Fugitive Warrant
9400 Block of Summerland Dr – Officers responded to two people arguing. It was determined that no physical contact had occurred, but through the investigation it was determined that one of the subjects had an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested and turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrant.

11/29/2019 *Arrest- Fugitive Warrant –Released per Warrant holding Agency
Margaret & West St – An Officer on patrol observed a traffic violation (disregard stop sign). Upon a traffic stop, it was discovered that the driver had an expired plate, no insurance, open intoxicants and a warrant for her arrest. The driver’s vehicle was towed for no insurance; while the driver was warned and then released on the warrant, but given tickets for the no insurance, open intoxicants and expired plate.

11/30/2019 *Driving on a Suspended License
Emerald Circle & Turquoise – An Officer on patrol observed an equipment violation (brake light and plate lights not fully functioning). Upon a traffic stop, the officer discovered the driver did not have a valid driver’s license; the driver was issued a misdemeanor citation and given a court date.
