Public Works
Projects –
- Pearl Street Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program Improvements – Installation of lighting equipment is anticipated the week of December 16. Punch List work is still outstanding and will be completed throughout the winter and spring.
- Curran Road Highway Safety Improvement Program Project –Guardrail installation on the east side of Curran road is delayed until further notice due to an ongoing conflict with an existing ATT cable. Installation will be completed upon resolution of the conflict.
Street Division -
- Street Division Personnel are nearing the completion of snow fence installation at all necessary locations for installation.
- Personnel repaired a leaking water service at the Lakeland Park Community Center which caused a minor disruption in service for the resident while the repair was made.
- Personnel replaced a fire hydrant and auxiliary valve at 5524 Shore Dr. the hydrant was leaking and auxiliary valve did not work properly. A shut down was required and no residents were affected.
Police
Time Period: Thursday 11/28/2019 thru Wednesday 12/04/2019
During this time period the McHenry Police Department:
- Handled 427 calls for service
- Investigated 14 Motor Vehicle Accidents
- Conducted 137 Traffic Stops
- Conducted over 97 Business Checks and Foot Patrols
- Handled 5 calls for service involving Domestic Disputes
- Handled 5 calls for service involving crisis intervention
- Arrested 10 individuals on State criminal charges
Personnel:
The following personnel have recently completed the respective years of service with the McHenry Police Department:
- Officer Roger Hendrickson – 2 Years
On December 3rd, 2019, the McHenry Police Department welcomed its two newest members. Ashley O’Herron and Henri Krueger were sworn in as Probationary Police Officers. Both O’Herron and Krueger are certified Police Officers and will start the department’s Field Training Program immediately. O’Herron served as an officer with the Hanover Park Police Department since 2015. Krueger served as an officer with the College of Lake County Police Department since 2012.
Training:
Officer Voelker attended training to be a certified Glock handgun armorer. This training was held in Orland Park, Illinois.
Public Relations:
On December 4th, 2019 Chief Birk and Officer Polidori spoke to Kiwanis about issues that affect teens and subject them to negative self-images, specifically cyberbullying and vaping. These two problems can cause the youth in our community a great deal of stress that is detrimental to their health and self-image.

1401 Riverside, Town Club
Staff is working with the new owners of the Town Club, interior demolition should begin shortly, once this has occurred the architects can begin their design process. We plan to meet with their staff soon to go over their plans for the building.
Trio gas Station, Bull Valley and 120
Work is finishing up at the Trio gas station site, the gas station should be open prior to the Christmas holiday.
