Public Works
Projects—
- Pearl Street Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program Improvements – The contractor has provided temporary backfill adjacent to the sidewalk for safety reasons. Due to weather, that area will be fully restored in the Spring. Street lights have been ordered, and all of the concrete bases and wiring have been installed. The contractor is scheduled to start the street light installations the week of December 16th. All road construction signs have been removed. The contractor will provide construction signs only on the days that they will be working from this point forward. The project is 90% complete.
- 2019 Road Resurfacing Program – Due to some value engineering adjustments that were made during construction, staff are projecting that the final contract value will be $80k-$90k under the awarded value. We expect a final invoice soon. A 2% retainage will be held to cover any pavement marking or landscaping deficiencies that may arise in the Spring. The project is 100% complete.
- Curran Road Highway Safety Improvement Program Project – There are two sections of guardrail that need to be installed. The contractor was able to field verify that the AT&T phone cable is in direct conflict with the guardrail. Per our franchise agreement with AT&T, the utility will relocate and/or abandon the line at AT&T’s expense. They are currently working on a plan and should schedule the work in February or March. The guardrail installation will commence thereafter. The project is 95% complete.
Water Division—
- Water Treatment Plant #4’s filter has experienced a leak on a “T” fitting. This is a welded fitting and needs to be replaced. A contractor has been secured to complete the work, and scheduling is being worked out at this point. A temporary patch has been made and the water plant is operational.
