Campbell Police have arrested all three suspects who were involved in a gang related stabbing that occurred in August 2019.
On August 28, 2019, at approximately 1:18 am, Campbell Police responded to a report of a stabbing at the Shell gas station on Hamilton Ave and Salmar Ave. Upon officers’ arrival, a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds was located. From statements and video recovered at the scene, it was determined the victim was attacked by three suspects and stabbed multiple times. All three suspects fled the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and later released.
Campbell Police Detectives immediately began following up on leads and identified Jose Savala, 36 years old from San Jose, and Alexis Hernandez, 22 years old from San Jose, as two of the suspects. Less than 24 hours after the stabbing, Savala was located and arrested in San Jose. A day later, Hernandez was also located and arrested in San Jose. Both Savala and Hernandez were taken into custody with assistance from San Jose Police Department’s Special Operations Units.
After an extensive investigation, Campbell Police Detectives identified Jose Gonzalez, 26 years old from Campbell, as the third suspect involved in the stabbing. On December 11, 2019, Campbell Police Detectives and SWAT team members arrested Mr. Gonzalez without incident. A subsequent search warrant was then served at his residence in Campbell.
Sergeant Dan Livingston said, “Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our officers, and assistance from the San Jose Police Department, all three suspects were arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail where they remain in-custody on charges of attempted murder and active participation in a criminal street gang.”
