MEDIA RELEASE

On December 17, 2019 San Luis Obispo Police Detectives served a search warrant at the home of 40-year-old Josephus Stallworth in the 2900 block of Rockview in the City of San Luis Obispo. Detectives received information that Stallworth had been transporting and selling large quantities of marijuana from his residence during the past several weeks. During their investigation, detectives found additional information which lead them to believe Stallworth was operating a cannabis delivery service in the City and County of San Luis Obispo without the proper Bureau of Cannabis Control permits.
As a result of the search warrant, in excess of ten thousand cannabis products were seized in addition to several thousand dollars in US Currency. Most of these products are believed to be fraudulently packaged items which are intended to represent legal and lab tested cannabis products. Licensed cannabis retailers are required to meet safety standards developed by the State of California and the Bureau of Cannabis Control. Consuming cannabis from an unlicensed retailer can lead to serious health risks. Stallworth was arrested without incident and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
Legal cannabis retailers can be checked at CApotcheck.com. The Bureau of Cannabis Control has also launched an educational campaign, “Get #weedwise” which can be found at www.bcc.ca.gov/consumers/weedwise.
