Emeryville Police Department Conducting “Know Your Limit” Education outreach Program

On December 26th, Emeryville Police Department officers will be out at local bars and restaurants to educate the public on how important it is to “know your limit.” This educational outreach program is completely voluntarily and a way our officers can help the community learn how alcoholic beverages can cause impairment.

The “Know Your Limit” program is sponsored by the California Office of Traffic Safety and is intended to inform the public on how little it takes to reach the legal driving limit for blood alcohol content (BAC), which is .08%.

During this event, officers will invite volunteers to take a breathalyzer test to see if they can guess their BAC. Those participating are asked how many drinks they had and whether they believe they are safe to drive. This is meant to be a fun educational event so please take advantage of it.

The goal is to help people understand the effects of alcohol so they can make smart decisions about how they get home after a night of drinking.

Happy, safe holidays from the Emeryville Police Department.
