Jackson Police continue to investigate an early morning shooting that occurred in the area of Lawrence Switch Road and Conalco Drive.
At approximately 9:50 a.m this date, December 31st, Jackson Police responded to the area of Lawrence Switch Road and Conalco Drive for a report of a shooting incident. Preliminary investigation indicates the initial incident was a robbery that occurred a few minutes earlier in the area of Point-O-Woods Drive.
The suspect of the robbery robbed the victim, who has been identified as a Madison County Constable, of his cellphone and fled Point-O-Woods on foot. A few minutes after the initial incident, the victim of the robbery observed the robber in the area of Lawrence Switch Road near Conalco Drive. The robbery victim attempted to stop the robber, which resulted in a shooting incident.
The robber, who was a seventeen year old male, was armed with a firearm. The robber/suspect was shot in the upper shoulder area. Responding officers recovered two handguns from the scene. The suspect/robber was treated for a non-life threatening injury and later released. The suspect/robber is currently in custody at the Madison County Juvenile Detention Facility for Aggravated Robbery and Possession of a Firearm by a Minor.
The Madison County Constable was not in the performance of his official duties when this incident occurred. Jackson Police are not looking for any other suspects in reference to this incident.
