Happy New Year’s Eve! Have Fun and Remember: No Fireworks. No Driving Under The Influence.
As you ring in the New Year tonight, a friendly reminder that fireworks of any kind are illegal in Sunnyvale. Fireworks can cause great bodily harm, start fires, scare your pets, are a nuisance to your neighbors, and can get you a hefty fine.
If you do happen to hear fireworks going off, please do not call 911 to report, unless it is a life threatening situation. Instead call our non-emergency dispatch line at 408-730-7180. City of Sunnyvale.
Today also happens to be one of the deadliest days on U.S. roadways. If you plan on partaking in any activity that enables your ability to drive safely, don’t get behind the wheel! Designate a sober driver, or use ride shares or public transit. There is no excuse to get behind the wheel impaired. There are a number of FREE public transit available tonight.
Caltrain will be providing free service on trains beginning at 8 PM on New Year’s Eve until the last train departing the San Francisco station at 2 a.m. Tuesday, January 1.
Santa Clara County's Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) kicked off their 4 days of free rides on Saturday and will extend through 2 a.m. on New Year's Day, both bus and light rail.
Caltrain, AC Transit, SamTrans and Muni will also be offering free trips beginning 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve. Caltrain will run until 2 a.m. while AC Transit, SamTrans and Muni will offer their last free trips at 5 a.m.
Be safe, have fun, BE RESPONSIBLE. Don’t be the reason you or your someone else doesn’t make it back home to their family, never drive under the influence.
