Synopsis: Three pedestrians were crossing from the north side of Sports Arena Boulevard heading south. The pedestrians were crossing mid-block and outside of a crosswalk at 3500 Sports Arena Blvd. A 54 year old male, driving a silver colored 2000 Ford Mustang, exited the Home Depot Parking lot on the south side of the street and turned right to go E/B on 3500 Sports Arena Blvd. The vehicle struck all three pedestrians in the E-2 lane. The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene E/B on Sports Arena Blvd. The vehicle was later stopped by Harbor Police in the 2000 block of Shelter Island Dr. Witnesses from the collision scene positively identified the vehicle driver as the one who had fled after striking the pedestrians. The driver was arrested for felony hit and run as well as DUI drugs. The pedestrians were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries. One of the pedestrians, a 55 year old female sustained facial fractures and a brain bleed. Another pedestrian, a 54 year old male, sustained minor abrasions to the hands, and a minor leg injury. The other pedestrian, a 60 year old female sustained a fractured pelvis and a fractured left ankle. The driver was identified as Marc Wohlfeil, a 54 year old male resident of San Diego. SDPD Traffic Division Detectives responded and are handling the investigation.

Synopsis: A 50 year old male pedestrian was crossing Orange Ave. from the north side of the street towards the south side. The pedestrian was crossing legally in the crosswalk on the west side of the intersection of Central Ave and Orange Ave. An 18 year old male, in a white colored 2004 Toyota Tacoma truck, was driving E/B on Orange Avenue, approaching Central Ave. The vehicle struck the pedestrian in the E/B lane. The driver remained at the scene and called the police. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital by paramedics, for treatment of his injuries. The pedestrian sustained serious and life threatening injuries, which included a fractured right upper arm, a compound fracture of his right lower leg, and a lacerated artery to one of his kidneys. Drugs or alcohol are not considered a factor in this collision. SDPD Traffic Division Officers responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation.
