Narrative: | |||||
On January 5, 2020, deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Services Division and Sheriff’s Gang Unit participated in a coordinated directed enforcement operation and arrested Isaac Zuniga and Julyan Reinhart for illegal possession of firearms and child endangerment. On January 5, 2020, deputies and detectives were conducting proactive directed enforcement using funds from a Department of Homeland Security grant named Operation Stonegarden. The grant is managed by the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit and funds are used to conduct directed enforcement operations targeting narcotics trafficking and related illegal activities in Ventura County. At approximately 12:25 AM, deputies conducted a traffic enforcement stop of a vehicle in the area of Thompson Boulevard and Figueroa Street in the City of Ventura. During the contact, the driver Isaac Zuniga told deputies he had a loaded firearm in the center console of his vehicle. Zuniga, his front passenger Julyan Reinhart and a 15 year old male juvenile were ordered out of the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located an unregistered loaded revolver in the center console. Deputies located a second loaded revolver under the front passenger seat where Reinhart was sitting. A records check of this revolver revealed it was stolen. Based on the investigation, both Zuniga and Reinhart were arrested for numerous firearms related charges. Additionally, they were both arrested for child endangerment. Zuniga and Reinhart were both booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. |
