ATTENTION RESIDENTS:
Per the National Weather Service and other weather outlets....
* A broad area of heavy rainfall is forecasted across the region Friday night through Saturday night. Total rainfall from the system is projected to be in the 2 to 4 inch range for Southeast Michigan. The exact location of the heaviest rainfall has yet to be determined. The ground is already full to capacity with water, this much more could be devastating to homeowners and businesses. 

* With these forecasted rain amounts, widespread flooding impacts are anticipated across Southeast Michigan. Road closures are expected. Runoff from heavy rainfall will lead to moderate to potentially major flooding on area rivers and streams. Significant urban impacts are expected from flooding rains which includes the flooding of basements.

* Significant lakeshore flooding is anticipated for the shoreline areas of Saginaw Bay and Saginaw River. A potential long duration of significant lakeshore flooding will be possible due to strong northeast winds Friday night through early Sunday.

* There is considerable uncertainty to when the precipitation type will change over to freezing rain or snow. The potential exists for significant accumulations of freezing rain or snow particularly for areas along and north of I 69.

PLEASE PLEASE begin any flood preparations you may need to perform. Even if you have never flooded before, you could be impacted. The ground is already full with water, this new rain will have nowhere to go. Here are some sample ideas:  check your emergency food and water supply, sandbags, raise things up on pallets in your basement, move valuables to higher ground, ensure fuel for generator, alternate cooking source, cell phone car charger.  I've also attached a great resource for you to review.
