Deceased: Juan Carlos Hernandez Leon Jr. (28) Santa Ana
Location: 1000 East 1st Street, Santa Ana
On Sunday, January 12th, 2020 at approximately 10:57AM the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) received several calls of a traffic collision involving a motorcycle down near the intersection of 1st Street and Grand Avenue. Officers responded to the area and found a male down in the roadway on 1st between Standard and Grand Avenues with visible trauma. Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) personnel responded and briefly treated the male before he was transported by CARE Ambulance to the OC Global Medical Center. The male was pronounced deceased at the hospital at 11:47AM.
The preliminary investigation has revealed the motorcyclist was headed west on 1st Street from Grand Avenue when for an unknown reason he drifted into the north curbline. The motorcycle then traveled across the north sidewalk before colliding with a concrete wall and a street light standard. The collision remains under investigation.
