...HEAVY MOUNTAIN SNOW WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY... .A significant winter storm is expected to impact the region late Wednesday afternoon through Thursday, with widespread heavy mountain snow accumulations likely. Snow levels are expected to fall from 3000 to nearly 2000 feet early Thursday morning, which will bring heavy snow accumulations to numerous interior mountain highways, including Highways 299, 36, and 3, in addition to numerous rural roadways. In addition, accumulating small hail will be possible across coastal areas late Wednesday night into Thursday.
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 20 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
* WHERE...Del Norte Interior, Northern Humboldt Interior, Southern Humboldt Interior, Northern Trinity and Southern Trinity Counties.
* WHEN...From 4 PM Wednesday to 4 PM PST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
