A traffic collision at Baker and Fairview intersection this morning involved two drivers, a CMPD officer and a citizen
This Thursday morning, Jan. 23, 2020, at approximately 6:50 a.m., a Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) officer was responding with lights and siren to an urgent call near the intersection of Baker Street and Fairview Road. As the officer drove into the intersection to clear it, a collision occurred between one male driver in a sedan and the officer in her patrol vehicle.
CMPD officers and Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue responded to the scene. CMPD closed off the intersection and all southbound lanes north of the intersection were diverted eastbound and westbound. Both drivers were transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for their non-life threatening injuries.
At approximately 8:45 a.m., the intersection of Baker and Fairview was cleared and opened.
