Narrative:
On January 24, 2020, detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Street Team concluded an investigation involving the sales of narcotics in Ventura County and arrested Nicholas Olson and Madison Samuel from Canoga Park for narcotics sales.

During the months of December 2019 and January 2020, patrol deputies and detectives with the Thousand Oaks Directed Enforcement Unit (DEU) developed information related to narcotics sales taking place in the City of Thousand Oaks.  The information indicated Nicholas Olson and Madison Samuel were involved in the sales of heroin and methamphetamine to residents of Ventura County.  This information was supported by previous information obtained from proactive patrol deputies assigned to the Camarillo Police Station, Moorpark Police Station and deputies assigned to our Detention Services Division.  Olson, who is on Ventura County probation for narcotics possession, was believed to be residing in Canoga Park with Madison.  The information was provided to the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit for follow up.

During the investigation, detectives were able to gather enough information to obtain a Ventura County search warrant for Olson’s and Madison’s residence located in the 8700 Block of Independence Avenue in Canoga Park.

On January 24, 2020, detectives conducted surveillance and contacted Olson and Samuel as they left their residence.  Olson and Samuel were subsequently arrested for narcotics sales charges and transported to back to Ventura County.  Following their arrests, detectives searched their residence pursuant to the search warrant.  Detectives seized heroin, methamphetamine and evidence indicative of narcotics sales.  In all, detectives seized 91 grams of methamphetamine, 42 grams of heroin, 248 Alprazolam pills, 18 Suboxone strips and money believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales.  Additionally, detectives located a loaded unregistered firearm in the living room of the residence.  Olson’s previous felony convictions prohibit him from owning and or possessing any firearms or ammunition.  The Alprazolam and Suboxone were not legally prescribed to Olson or Madison.

Based on the investigation, Olson and Samuel were both arrested for various narcotics and firearms possession charges.  They were both booked at the Ventura County Main Jail.

Heroin and prescription medications are contributors to both fatal and non-fatal overdoses taking place in Ventura County.  The Narcotics Unit is committed to aggressively target narcotics sales and help combat opiate overdoses in Ventura County through aggressive narcotic enforcement.
The Narcotics Street Team is comprised of Narcotic Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Thousand Oaks Police Department, and the Oxnard Police Department.
