Search Warrant uncovers firearms, narcotics, and currency (click on blue link for more details) 
On Monday January 27, 2020, Officers representing the Marion Police Department, McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina Department of Revenue, executed a search warrant at Americas Best Value Inn (4248 US 221 South in Marion). The room listed on the warrant was rented by Jonathan Floyd (42 years of age, Marion).
Information was received that Kayla Smith, (31 years of age, Marion) was staying in the room that was rented to Floyd. Smith had outstanding warrants for arrest for Failure to Appear. Smith was located in the room, and was arrested on the outstanding warrants. Smith was placed in the custody of the McDowell County Jail under a $90,000 secured bond.
Once contact had been made with the occupants of the room, it was determined that Floyd also had outstanding warrants for his arrest. A search warrant was obtained and executed, and officers discovered firearms, narcotics, and currency.
Floyd was arrested and charged with the following:
Possession of Firearm by Felon
Possession of Methamphetamine
Possession with Intent Sell/Manufacture/Deliver Methamphetamine
Maintaining a Dwelling for a Controlled Substance
Outstanding warrants for arrest
Floyd was placed in the custody of the McDowell County Jail under a $580,000 secured bond.
Further charges are pending against Smith in this incident.
