Deputies arrested a transient for Robbery and Violation of Probation

LOCATION: AM/PM Convenience Store, 31000 block of Hampton Road
SUSPECT: Heather Gurule, 35 years old, Transient
VICTIM: AM/PM employee
SUMMARY:
On January 27, 2020 at 3:50 p.m. deputies responded to a report of an assault against an employee of the AM/PM Convenience Store. A female reportedly attempted to shoplift items and, when an employee tried to prevent the theft, the female assaulted him. The employee followed the suspect and was able to direct deputies to her location. The suspect, later identified as Heather Gurule, was detained without incident. The subsequent investigation revealed Gurule entered the AM/PM business and was attempting to steal merchandise when an employee confronted her about the theft. Gurule knocked over a display and physically assaulted the employee while leaving with the merchandise.
Gurule was arrested and transported to Central Detention Center where she was booked for Robbery and an additional charge of Violation of Probation, which was based on a prior felony theft case. She is being held without bail.
