Deputies arrest a woman for the robbery of a local AM/PM

LOCATION: AM/PM Convenience Store, 31000 block of Hampton Road
SUSPECT(S): Heather Gurule, age 35 a transient
VICTIM(S): AM/PM Employee
SUMMARY: On January 27, 2020, at approximately 3:50 p.m., deputies from the Yucaipa Police Department responded to a report of an assault against an employee of the AM/PM Market. A female, later identified as Heather Gurule, reportedly attempted to shoplift items and, when an employee tried to prevent the theft, she assaulted him. The employee followed the suspect and was able to direct deputies to her locaton. The suspect was detained without incident. The subsequent investigation revealed Gurule entered the AM/PM business and was attempting to steal merchandise when an employee confronted her about the theft. Gurule knocked over a display and physically assaulted the employee while leaving with the merchandise.
Gurule was arrested and transported to Central Detention Center where she is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail on robbery chages and without bail for violating her probation, which was based on a prior felony theft case.
