Two men are arrest following a high-speed pursuit

DATE/TIME: January 28, 2020 / 10:48 a.m.

INCIDENT: CVC 2800.2-Failure to Yield
PC 496d(a)-Possession of Stolen Vehicle
H&S 11377(a)-Possession of Controlled Substance

LOCATION: Calimesa Boulevard. and Wildwood Canyon Road, Yucaipa

SUSPECT(S): Jesse Robey, age 26 a Transient
Alfonso Pena, age 23 a resident of Yucaipa



SUMMARY: On January 28, 2020, at approximately 10:48 a.m., deputies observed a blue Toyota Camry near the intersection of Avenue I and Calimesa Boulevard. The driver of the Toyota, later identified as Jesse Robey, fled at a high rate of speed when he saw the deputies. Robey nearly caused a traffic collision and a pursuit ensued. Robey drove the Toyota at speeds reaching approximately 100 miles per hour. Robey drove on the dirt shoulder of the roadway and endangered public safety. Deputies lost sight of the Toyota near the intersection of Calimesa Blvd. and Oak Glen Rd. Citizens in the area were able to direct deputies to the vehicle’s last known location, Kentucky St. and 12th St.

Deputies requested the assistance of sheriff’s aviation to assist in the search. Robey and the passenger, later identified as Alfonso Pena were seen running in the wash near Kentucky St. and 12th St. With the assistance of aviation, deputies took Robey and Pena into custody after a foot chase through yards and private properties. The Toyota was located parked behind a residence in the 32900 block of Kelly Ln. The Toyota was a reported stolen out of Calimesa. Following his arrest, Pena was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Robey was arrested for CVC 2800.2(a)-Failure to Yield, PC 496d(a)-possession of a stolen vehicle. Robey was found to be on felony probation for a prior stolen property and weapons conviction.

Pena was arrested for PC 148.9(a)(1)-Obstruct Peace Officer, H&S 11377(a)-Possession of Controlled Substance. Pena was found to be on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for a prior stolen property and weapons conviction.

They were both transported and booked in at Central Detention Center on new charges and both were also booked for violating their probation and PRCS terms.
