Public Works
 
Projects—
  • Pearl Street Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program Improvements – The contractor has provided temporary backfill adjacent to the sidewalk for safety reasons.  Due to weather, that area will be fully restored in the Spring. All street lights have been installed.  ComEd has made the final hook-up and the lights are now operational. The project is 99% complete with only some minor restoration to be completed.
 
  • Curran Road S-curve Improvements – AT&T has completed their cable relocation/abandonment. The contractor has mobilized early on the guardrail installation at the two curves and will complete the installation by January 31st.
 
Street Division—
  • Crews responded to a 3” snow event on January 24th and 25th, using over 150 tons of salt on the roadways.  
Police
 
Time Period: Thursday 01/23/2020 thru Wednesday 01/29/2020
 
During this time period the McHenry Police Department:
  • Handled 621 calls for service
  • Investigated 18 Motor Vehicle Accidents
  • Conducted 255 Traffic Stops
  • Conducted over 175 Business Checks and Foot Patrols
  • Handled 5 calls for service involving Domestic Disputes
  • Handled 2 calls for service involving crisis intervention
  • Arrested 4 individuals on State criminal charges
 
Personnel:
 
The following personnel have recently completed the respective years of service with the McHenry Police Department:
  • Officer Katelyn Lorenz – 3 Years
  • Telecommunicator Grant Havens – 3 years
 
Training:
 
Sergeant Aalto and Officer Harris attended rail safety training hosted by the Canadian National Railroad in Homewood, Illinois.
 

Community Development
 

Planning and Zoning Commission

The Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of a zoning map amendment to C-5, a conditional use permit to allow outside storage in conjunction with a contractor’s office and a use variance to allow the building at 3816 W Bull Valley Road to be utilized as a residence upon annexation to the City of McHenry.

 

Economic Development Commission

The Economic Development Commission unanimously recommended a small business grant program.  The program will be reviewed by the City Attorney and then be forwarded to the City Council for consideration.

 

Visiting Businesses

Mayor Jett, Director of Economic Development Martin and Economic Development Coordinator Wolf visited businesses outside of the City of McHenry in an effort to attract them to the City.
