On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, 29 year old Francisco Capuchino was taken into custody for multiple crimes as stated in our previous media release.

On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, approximately 9:40 am, a subject called to report that their white, 4 door Audi Sedan had been stolen from Eldridge Avenue, near the location of the original call for theft. During the course of the initial call involving Francisco Capuchino, a white Audi was also seen driving recklessly in the area.

An All Points Bulletin was put out county wide in an effort to locate the stolen vehicle. At approximately 10:00 am, Marin County Sheriff’s Office Deputies located the Audi, unoccupied, in the one hundred block of Shoreline Highway. The vehicle was processed for evidence and released back to the owner.

On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at 7:45 am, Mill Valley Police were dispatched to a theft from a vehicle on Eldridge Avenue. The victim attempted to confront the suspect who had been inside their vehicle. The suspect fled the area in a silver sedan with distinguishable markings.

Mill Valley Police responded to the area and searched for the silver sedan, ultimately locating the vehicle on E. Blithedale Avenue. As Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, the driver failed to yield and collided with multiple other vehicles on E. Blithedale Avenue at Camino Alto.

Officers pursued the suspect vehicle to the area of the 100 block of Shell Road where the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Mill Valley Police with the assistance of Marin County Sheriff’s Office, San Rafael Police, Tiburon Police, and California Highway Patrol (CHP) were able to quickly set-up a perimeter and place Edna Maguire School, Terra Marin School, Marin Day School and Mill Valley Nursery School on lockdown.

CHP brought in their air unit and concentrated the search over the perimeter, locating the suspect hiding in a residential backyard. San Rafael Police responded with their K-9 and conducted a search for the suspect in the area described by the air unit. The suspect was located and taken into police custody without further incident. It was further discovered the vehicle the suspect was driving was reported stolen out of Fremont, CA.

The suspect was identified as Francisco Capuchino, age 29, out of Oakland, California. Capuchino was booked into Marin County Jail on charges of:

488 PC – Theft from a Vehicle
496 PC - Possession of Stolen Property
10851 PC – Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
23152 – Driving under the Influence of Drugs
182 – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime
11377- Possession of Controlled Substances
12500 CVC – Driving Without a License
2800.1 CVC – Evading a Police Officer
20002 CVC – Hit and Run
