Press Release: Suspect Arrested for Possession of Firearm and Evading Police

2009 Black Subaru Impreza
On February 3, 2020, at approximately 11:12 P.M., a Milpitas Police officer stopped Gabriel Anthony Urbieta and a two-year-old, female passenger on the 450-Block of S. Abel St. for a traffic violation. While officers were conducting a records check, the mother of the two-year-old child came to the scene and picked up the child. When the child exited the vehicle, Urbieta sped off recklessly at a high rate of speed to evaded officers. Officers did not pursue Urbieta. While fleeing the scene, Urbieta discarded a black backpack containing a loaded .45 handgun. Urbieta is a convicted felon and is on probation in Santa Clara County for firearm violations.
On February 4, 2020, at approximately 10:00 A.M., Sacramento Police officers saw Urbieta’s vehicle and tried to stop him. Urbieta fled and the officers pursued him. Sacramento Police officers apprehended Urbieta after he crashed his vehicle and fled on foot. Urbieta was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for evading police, hit-and-run, and resisting arrest. A Milpitas Police officer obtained an arrest warrant for Urbieta for additional charges of evading police, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, and carrying a loaded firearm.
